The disk partition that contains the Windows operating system files and its supporting files is called boot partition. By default, the Windows operating system files are in the WINDOWS folder, while WINDOWS\System32 folder contains supporting files.
The boot partition can be the same as system partition (usually referred to as C partition), but they can be on different partitions too, there is no requirement on this. Generally, there is only one system partition; while there will be one boot partition for each operating system under a dual-boot or multi-boot environment.
As computer technicians, we are always asked how to speed up Windows 7 computers and make it run faster, how to resize partition, especially extending boot partition without reboot to maximize computer performance or solve Windows 7 low disk space warning. Would you please tell me the safest way to extend boot partition/C partition without data loss?
While you can always use Windows 7 Disk Management, but there is no obvious improvement of Disk Management tool in Windows 7 comparing with Vista, the limitations, especially that it cannot move partitions, make some advanced partition management operations in Windows 7 still need third party partitioning utility like EaseUS Partition Master.
Partition manager software - EaseUS Partition Master is recommended, which could provide you basic and advanced partition functions of partition management without data loss. The Professional Edition is for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8 both 32 and 64 bit business users, while for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8 32 bit and 64 bit home users, we offer free Free Edition; the Server Edition/Unlimited Edition is for Windows 2000/2003/2008 Server or non-server users Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8; Unlimited Edition allows unlimited usage within one company; Technician Edition allows you to offer technical services to multiple clients.
