Data Security SoftwareRecently, Windows 7 has become popular due to its highly publicized advantages over its predecessors. At the same time, how to partition Windows 7 system hard disk is a question that is becoming urgent for Windows 7 users.
Similar to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 also has ability to partition Windows 7 system hard disk by its "Shrink Volume" and "Extend Volume" features.
My C drive is out of space or low disk space, I want to decrease the partition D size and increase C drive size. Right click the partition D in Disk Management built in Windows 7 Operating System and choose "Shrink Volume" to decrease the partition D size. There will be some unallocated space behind the partition D. After that, right click the partition C and choose "Extend Volume" to increase C drive size, but the "Extend Volume" option is grayed out. Why?
This is a common problem to extend volume in Windows Vista, Windows 2008 and Windows 7. That's because the "Extend Volume" option will be available only if there is unallocated space behind the partition which you want to extend. How to let the unallocated space (Which is clinging to the partition D) be clinging to the partition C? If there is "Move Partition" feature in Disk Management built in Windows 7 Operating System, I can move the partition D rightwards and let the unallocated space be clinging to the partition C so that I can increase C drive size without problem. But Disk Management built in Windows 7 has no such feature. While Windows 7 partition software – EASEUS Partition Master has ability to move partition and resize partition in Windows 7 Operating System. Its "Move Partition" feature can meet the above needs.
As magic partition software for Windows 7 Operating System, EASEUS Partition Master can resize and move Windows 7 32 bit and 64 bit partition with very simple operations by its Resize/Move feature. Moreover, EASEUS Partition Master can extend NTFS system partition without reboot.
Steps to partition Windows 7 system hard drive disk.
1. Launch EASEUS Partition Master.
2. Select the partition D on the disk map. Position the mouse pointer on the right partition handle, the mouse pointer changes to a double-headed arrow and drag the handle to the left to decrease the partition D size. There will be some unallocated space behind the partition D.
3. Select the partition D on the disk map. Move the mouse to the pane that symbolizes the partition D, when the cursor become a cross crux, drag it rightwards to let unallocated space be next to the system partition C.
4. Select the system partition C on the disk map, position the mouse pointer on the right partition handle of the system partition C. When the mouse pointer changes to a double-headed arrow, drag the handle to the right to increase system partition C size.
